ARTIST CARSON PRICE | Gates of the Soul

We are thrilled to feature Richmond Artist Carson Price , Opening November 1st, 2016. The title of her latest collection is inspired by the words of Walt Whitman “Be not ashamed woman . . .you are the gates of the body and you are the gates of the soul.”

Carson remembers how much she loved drawing the female body since she was young saying,  “There isn’t a more traditional subject than the human body; people have been drawing it since they were first able.”  So, it’s no surprise that when she began to devote herself to her art, she would begin with her first love.

Two years ago we had the privilege of getting to know Carson, and began showing her nudes at Palette Home. Art loving friends and clients had such a strong and immediate response to her work, it led to one of our most dynamic and enthusiastic art openings.  Since then, we’ve also enjoyed her broad stroked abstract paintings and beautiful landscapes that capture the heart of the hills and skies of Virginia inspired by her hometown in Bedford. However, when we started talking about a show for November and Carson described her vision for a new collection of nudes – this time in a variety of mediums including large colorful canvases using a palette knife and simple black and white etchings, we got very excited! They are here and are beautiful!

Stop by our Richmond location, 5813 Grove Avenue to see Carson’s full collection. The show will run through November 30, 2016
